Im just me, I love life. I love the challenges each day brings. I think of myself as young, black and powerful. I am all woman, every woman. An unpolished diamond. Untapped potential!!

RETAIL THERAPY

First things first I personally confess to comfort shopping rather than comfort eating when im feeling a bit under the weather - that is if the pocket permits - . I have a tendency to misuse money during rough times but please don’t judge, for every 6pack of you know what, I deserve a pair of shoes or something- im a woman..! A gal in this age should make enough money to blow on a bad day and im no exception when the going gets tough, the tough go shopping.

Don’t know if im alone in this (I bet not) most ladies are guilty as charged in this regard.I for one am guilty for as many pairs im yet to wear. Im such a gal and I will not apologize for any miscalculated buys. All in a good time, they are put to use and that means more trips to the pond. I don’t know how we manage to do it- to bring the whole emotions thing into it. Gal, gather your emotions, this list might prove handy on your next trip.

This is retail therapy from a different angle – 10 things a lady should have in random order.

  1. A black number- the LBD (little black dress) is a must have for every woman. For those urgent and sos events- so easy to dress up or down.
  2. A white fitted shirt- crisp and classic.  Infant I believe it should be an all white outfit. I jus love the contrast of white on black skin. Clean and heavenly. (I am an African)
  3. A sexy pair of killer heels – life is too short for short heels – need I say more. And vice versa- a good pair of pumps- or flatties – for your ‘mall misdemeanours’ (we all know you will stroll through all the shops before you return to shop no.1 for your purchase and those feet need a break after all).
  4. Sexy matching lingerie – helps to pick your mood especially when you realize you no more the sexy diva you were, before life happened. Enough said.
  5. A skirt – nowadays there is no excuse not to own one. What with the high waisted ones, pencil is ageless: there gotta be one that suits your frame. You got to show some leg once in a while. There is at least one event in a woman’s life that would require you to dress up in one.
  6. a timeless handbag- preferably one that can carry all your life in it.  it doesn’t need to be black but should be swappable between your everyday kinda thing and weekends away. Invest in genuine leather and do away with Chinese buys for a change. No offence meant.
  7. Real fitting jeans- not an easy find but should you find one – honour them like there is no tomorrow. This is the basic for your non-formal outings.
  8. A beautiful scarf – its one of those smallanyana intimate things you can never explain  y we love so much. You can throw them over a good/bad outfit, it can also double up to keep you warm especially in this unpredictable Jozi weather, and so many other uses including tying down a soldier… .
  9. Accessories and more accessories- you can never have enough. This is an easy way of upgrading any outfit. Could be less is more or more is less depending on the occasion, what ever tickles your fancy.
  10. Color in any kind. Be bold n try out all the colours of the rainbow.
Now no more excuses for your emotional trips to the mall- just make sure you find a good buy. Embrace the little girl in you and Happy shopping!!!!.
