About Me

My photo
Midrand, South Africa
Im just me, I love life. I love the challenges each day brings. I think of myself as young, black and powerful. I am all woman, every woman. An unpolished diamond. Untapped potential!!

AN OPEN LETTER TO MYSELF

Dear love

I look at you with mixed emotions
I’m proud of your achievements this far
I always reference back to the time when age was by your side
You were full of dreams and very much capable
These days you are on and off
Some days you have a fire that cannot be quenched
You pretty work well under pressure but life has it that way
That no day is the same like the other
Capitalize on your good days
Because surely the bad days won’t schedule themselves

And on your low days
Remember always that the tide is not always constant
Allow yourself to bask in your laziness and stop feeling guilty about

You have come a long way
All those dreams you had, as your younger self are still possible
Let not fear guide you, let not fear prevent you from the life you were born to live
Remember the time when life changed at the bat of an eyelid
You were never prepared for it
You will never be ready enough for any moment in life
Come to think of it, all that you are in this moment
Was driven by the valleys in your journey
You would not be here today if it were not for some tough love
You would not be here today if all you knew was love and joy

You have a good heart but what does it profit you to keep it to yourself
You love love, life and the little things
Take pride in that, never hold back on the things that make your heart smile
Never be afraid to pass that love to the next person, it’s not being soft or a doormat
Its love and love lives within you. Allow
And all the other things that steal your joy, it’s a hint of fear, nothing is ever so bad
Make that one decision that will change your life, for better, for YOUR own better

Dear love, I look at you today
So proud of the woman you have grown to be
So hungry to see the woman you are becoming
You pretty do well first because you are your own cheerleader
I love that about you, you have shaped your life based on your own values, beliefs, timelines and all
I am proud to see that in you, the life around you has to bow down to you
Never be apologetic for the decisions you have made
That serve you and kept you in your lane

Remember though, to embrace the little lessons of everyday life,
Embrace the hand stretched out, that kind word and the not so kind
They will build or tear you down. At the end, what remains is YOU
Never be afraid to ask for help, izandla ziyagezana

Lastly In you i still see a wealth of untapped potential
Life does not get better by chance, it gets better by change
I know not the limits that could dent your dreams
All I know is that you can
You can.
You can.

You can.

Live the life you want, and invest in you

Enjoy life for as long as it lasts. One day its all gonna be a memory.
It shouldnt be 'coulda', 'should', 'woulda'  reflection

          Perfect Imperfections

Life has a way of making you grow up before your time.

Reflections on the first half - Life has a way of making you grow up before your time.
Death is such an enigma in our lives yet we still don’t know how to deal with it. Having lost very close family in the first half of the year unexpectedly but shocking I have come to realize that indeed our lives are nothing but a breath and we can never know what tomorrow brings.
Looking at the years we were given to be with you, there were enough though we would have liked to have more – so many beautiful memories: We have our days when we stand strong  - we replay those moments in our minds and somehow find the strength to go on. That’s what you would have wanted. We have learnt to cry our tears out and still wake up to the world and smile.
I look at my nephew and see hope, I see a life, I see a product of love. I love him to bits. Amazing how he has given us the strength to go on. Just when we thought we need to be strong for him, the big guy is our pillar. His namesake for sure.

They say time heals all wounds – May His timing be perfect to that which He started.  Like my other cousin said – maybe we don’t have the right to be broken as we are – after all we were only your sister in laws. We carry you in hearts always. We wish we could say we have healed, we wish we could believe that your time was up… but deep inside – it hurts.  Forcing back the sting of tears, fighting back the pain and the hurt. It’s never easy. Yet we soldier on.
